Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts that choose to do some, or all, of their Scouting by helping to lead at a Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack, or Scout Troop. By becoming part of the leadership team at a section the Young Leaders gain valuable leadership skills and the confidence to put them into practice. They also have the opportunity to gain awards recognising their commitment and can count the service towards Chief Scout's and Duke of Edinburgh awards. And it's fun!
The Young Leaders are supported by the section Leaders they are working with, the District Explorer Scout team, and through a specific Young Leaders' training scheme which provides them with skills required by a leader.

Young Leaders' Training Scheme and Missions
The training scheme consists of ten modules which include aspects of leadership such as safety, leadership styles, dealing with challenging behaviour, using and running games and activities, programme planning, and first aid.
The training modules are supported by four missions which challenges the Young Leaders to put what they have learnt in their training into practice.
